Uma V1
Uma V1 is close to completion! About 4 more inches before I start to decrease and then add the cuff. The Uma is technically a shrug...but way cooler. A shawl with cuffs is more like it. It doesn't have a full sleeve. I am totally winging it, no pattern. V2 and V3 will use patterns. Oh yes, there will be a series. Stay tuned. It is taking forever to load photos but will do so later.

amy, i walked by a VERY cool yarn shop today! i didn't go in, because i was on a nene food shop... serious business, as you know.
but i will go back! i really want to start knitting, ame. do you think it's possible for me to start the sf uma with you, virtually, by my side?
if you think it'll be too much of a hassle, lemme know. perhaps i can get the nice peeps at this shop to set me in the right direction.
I think it can be done. You need to learn increases in decreases. Decreases are easy, just knit two stitches together. Increases are done by knitting into the back and then purling into the front of the same stitch. You may need a visual guide to learn this. Or ask a nice knitter at the yarn store. You can do it! amy, it looks terrific! wow, i'm so impressed. you're an inspiration, you know that? whenever i tell people about stitch, i always say, "and then there's amy--she's a prolific master knitter. she's amazing!"
can't wait to learn more about increasing and decreasing, ame! we'll need many webcam seshes, i'm sure of it.
i am delighted to meet uma at last! i think amy needs to wear it so i can see how it fits. ok?
